Clarity, Compassion, and Choice

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs.

When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”

- Ansel Adams -

Six months ago, I found myself driving a Ford truck with a camper trailer named Imagine2 hitched to the back. It was the beginning of an intentional adventure-sabbatical dreamed up by my husband and myself, a journey we named On the Road to Calm.

After thousands of miles, beauty beyond belief, melt-downs also beyond belief, and friendships rekindled, I've come to a rest stop—the clarity that I've been irrevocably changed by these months on the road.

Other than this blog, taking photographs is now where I gather memories and meaning.

Compassionate acceptance of a new interior silence has become a curious practice.

Something beyond my understanding is choosing this calmer way of being. I had no idea it would lead to this humbling invitation—I shall be content with silence.

Calming Practice: Follow Curiosity

In the past, my usual retort to doing something new was No.

Now it is Yes.

Saying Yes has put a smile on my face.

No is reserved for times I need to practice self-care.

In the upcoming holiday season, follow curiosity.

Allow the energy of surprise.

Honor your body when it says I need to recharge.
